Some beautiful destinations can’t be discovered without getting a little lost. This is what I quickly learned when my husband and I set out on a road trip in Ireland. Ireland is famous for so many wonderful things: magnificent castles, Celtic history, traditional Irish cuisine, folk music, Irish whiskey, and, of course, Guinness. I’ve traveled to Ireland three times, each at different stages of my life, and repeatedly what I love most about the country is its luscious green landscape and rural countryside. And so, Ireland is the ultimate destination for a cross-country road trip. Step on the gas! Let’s speed ahead for a look at our seven-day road trip in Ireland. Day 1: Dublin Good morning Ireland! Our Aer Lingus flight landed at 6 a.m. and so our adventure begins. There was a man standing with a tray of whiskey shots in the airport right after we disembarked. My husband quickly assimilated to his Irish roots by enjoying this traditional Irish breakfast without hesitation. We picked up our hot wheels for the week, a silver diesel Skoda. How to Spend Three Days as a Solo Traveler in Prague
It’s not often you are awarded the opportunity to look back at the culture and familial roots that have defined the course of your life. Both my father and mother’s family lineage are largely from the Central Europe region formerly known as Czechoslovakia, known as independent countries Slovakia and the Czech Republic since 1993. The city of Prague in the Czech Republic is known for its historic baroque architecture, picturesque location on the Vltava River, compelling thousand-year history, and world-famous Czech lagers. In fact, did you know that the Czech Republic consumes more beer per capita than any other country in the world? While traveling for business to Switzerland, I decided to arrive the weekend prior to spend a few days exploring the breathtaking city of Prague on my own. Read on about my three-day adventure in this exceptional European city. DAY ONE // FREE WALKING TOUR AND THE OPERA HOUSE I arrived in a rainy Prague after an eight-hour flight from Newark with a transfer in Vienna. I took a car service to my residence for the weekend, the Grandior Hotel. The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of the Old City of Prague within walking distance to all ...
How to Plan a Trip for Three Days in Amsterdam
Goedemorgen, adventurer! Our next stop – Amsterdam! The city where anything goes. The Dutch capital is known for its elaborate canal system, beautiful tulip blooms, prominent cycling culture, scandalous red-light district, and cannabis cafes. Amsterdam has it all. Check out our three days in Amsterdam… DAY 1 // EXPLORING AMSTERDAM We arrived at Schiphol Airport and boarded a train to Amsterdam Central Station, about a 15-20 minute ride. We then took a taxi from the station to our Air BnB in West Amsterdam in the Jordaan neighborhood. The home was the perfect weekend retreat – well-equipped kitchen, enormous bathtub, impeccable décor design and an outdoor garden with a patio. We headed out for a stroll and stopped at Café Josélito for lunch. We loved sitting outdoors with a beer and some tapas watching the city go by. We had planned to do a walking tour but were running later than planned and instead decided to roam the city on our own. We walked on to Dam Square, one of the key landmarks of the city featuring the Royal Palace, Gothic Nieuwe Kerk Church and Amsterdam's National Monument honoring World War II casualties. It’s a great spot to catch some unique street ...
